Helen L. Day 88, passed away on December 14, 2020 at her home in Peoria Heights. She was born on February 25, 1932 in Peoria Heights, the daughter of Victor and Martha (Blackwell) Murrie.
She worked for Caterpillar for 32 years holding many different titles.
Helen is survived by three daughters Debby (Wally) Carlson of Decatur, Diane Day of Peoria, Denise (Don) Wood of Clarksville, TN; eight grandchildren Lindsay Carlson of Eagle, CO, Jeremy (Andrea) Carlson of Bloomington, IN, Alex (Katie) Carlson of Aurora, Elizabeth Carlson of Peoria, Nick (Nicole) Carlson of East Bend, NC, Kyle Hayse of Chillicothe, Collin (Nicole) Hayse of Peoria, Taylor Hayse of Bellevue; two great-grandchildren Theodore, Oliver and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister Jean Murray and one brother Harry Murrie.
Helen had a love for travel. She traveled extensively in younger years. Hawaii was one of her favorite places in the world. She also had a great love for her grandchildren. They brought her much joy. Anybody close to Helen knew she was an avid Cardinal baseball fan.
Grief is the price we pay for love. Lord knows she was loved.
Cremation rites have been entrusted to Cumerford-Clary Funeral Home in Peoria. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
