William Johnson Jr., 76, of Peoria, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on April 21, 2018 at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.
A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 26, 2018 at Clary Funeral Home, 3004 West Lake Avenue in Peoria. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Inurnment will be at Camp Butler at a later date.
William was born on November 8, 1941 in Dundee, MS, a son of William and Della (Lewis) Johnson Sr.
He graduated from Rosa Fort High School and joined the United States Air Force in August of 1961. He proudly served his country for 8 years.
William married Adlyne McDonald on August 17, 1965.
He worked for Caterpillar Inc., Insight Cable and Alwan Brothers Meat Co. before retiring. He enjoyed reading, singing and working on cars with his brothers. He like the Chicago Bears and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.
William leaves behind three daughters, Carolyn Johnson, Andrea Bonner and Daesha Ideez, all of Peoria; two siblings, Robert Johnson of Delavan and Rutha Mae Johnson of Peoria. He also leaves five grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and other special relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Charles Johnson, Johnny Tyler and Coolidge Tyler.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in William’s memory to OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.
