William Irving, Sr.

William D. Irving, Sr., 80, of Hanna City, passed away at 11:31 p.m. on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at Clary Funeral Home, 3004 West Lake Avenue in Peoria, with Pastor Terry England officiating. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be at Smithville Cemetery in Hanna City.
William was born on August 22, 1936, in Pekin, a son of William D. and Charlotte M. (Miller) Irving. They preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Linda Frampton and Shirley Ball and one brother, Robert Irving. He married Linda L. Parker on June 11, 1960 in Peoria. She survives.
He is also survived by his children, Bill (Betsy) Irving, Jr. of Trivoli and Dan Irving of Peoria; brother, Gary (Julie) Irving of Pekin; and grandchildren, Jonathan (Chelsey), Bradley, Andrew (Ally Carr), Bethany and Emily Irving.
William was an electrician at Keystone Steel and Wire Co. for 39 years. He also worked for the Glasford Grain and Milling Co. for over 50 years.
He served on the USS Oriskany in the United States Navy from 1954-1957.

William was a member at Brunswick Community Church in Trivoli, Farmington Masonic Lodge #142, the Irin Grotto in Pekin, American Legion Post 979 in Bartonville and Two-River Cattleman Association. He was a trustee for the Logan Township and Chairman for Wiremill Grievance and Insurance Committees for Independence Steelworkers Alliance. He was on the board of Leisure Oaks Park and was former President of Keystone Employees Activities Association. He enjoyed antique tractors and farming.
