William “Bill” Joseph Cook, age 89, of Peoria, passed away on Monday July 11, 2022 at his residence in Peoria, IL.
Bill was born to Salem W. and Virginia (Hale) Cook on April 26, 1933 in Terre Haute, IN. He married Marlene R. Dodds on June 10, 1972 in Peoria.
He is survived by his wife Marlene Cook of Peoria; children Joseph M. (Shelia) Cook of Williamstown, MO, Kenneth B. (Nikki) Cook of Canton, IL, Katherine D. Cook of Burien, WA, Tamara A. (Jim) Torok of Peoria, David T. (Carol) Cook of Lavaca, AR; ten grandchildren Kelli Waugh, Jason Waugh, Kristel (Mike) Rodgers, Ashley (Nick Notte) Cook, Matthew Torok, Marlene (Kyle) Dietz, Morgan (Cody Shoesmith) Torok, Todd (Chelsea Bartelmay) Cook, Troy Cook, Madeline Webb and 10 great-grandchildren
Bill graduated from Woodruff High School, and served in the U.S. Army from 1955-1957, where he specialized in Missile Defense. He worked as a pattern maker at Caterpillar, retiring after 41 years, and was also a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Peoria. Bill enjoyed his daily crossword puzzle, reading, and walking in his free time.
It was Bill’s wishes to be cremated, and a memorial service will be held at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church on Sunday July 17, 2022 at 1pm. Pastor Mark Nelson and Pastor Matthew Synnott will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. A private burial will be held at Lutheran Cemetery at a later date.
