Wendy Boatright

Wendy Ruth Boatright, 70, of Peoria, passed away at 9:58 a.m. on Monday, November 17, 2014, at her home.
She was born on October 22, 1944 in Pekin, the daughter of William Stanley and Florence (Krause) Wrigley. Her father preceded her in death. Wendy married Jimmie D. Boatright, her soul mate, on June 14, 1969 at St. Bernard Parish in Peoria. They had met at Roosevelt High School, where they were both on the faculty.
Wendy is survived by her mother, of Peoria; husband, of Peoria; son, Daniel Boatright of Gulf Shores, AL; and grandsons, Tristan Boatright of Peoria and Dalton Boatright of Gulf Shores.
She began her lifelong love of learning at a two-room school near Glasford. She was in 1 st and 2 nd grade at the same time. When she was in 3 rd grade, her family moved to Bartonville. In 1957, she graduated from Bartonville Grade School as Valedictorian. At the age of 12, she entered Limestone Community High School. At age 16, Wendy graduated.
Wendy continued her education at Illinois State University, where she majored in Latin and minored in Psychology and later in Old English.
In the fall of 1965, she returned to Limestone Community High School, her alma mater, as a teacher. She taught nearly every English class offered. She served as coordinator of the gifted curriculum. After earning her Master’s Degree in Educational Administration, she served as Division Chair for two years, before returning fulltime to the classroom, until her retirement.
Besides teaching, Wendy also loved fishing with her family, Jim, Daniel, Tristan and Dalton. She was also an animal lover.
Wendy fought the good fight against ALS, Lou Gehrig’s disease, for the last two years, at home. She will be severely missed by her family and pets.
Private services will be held, with interment at Glendale Cemetery in Washington, with Fr. Thomas E. Taylor officiating.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Clary Funeral Home, 3004 West Lake Avenue , in Peoria.
