Shirley Gritton

Shirley Wahlquist Gritton, 88, of Peoria, passed away at 11:54 a.m. on Friday, April 20, 2018 at her residence.
Private family services will be at a later date and inurnment will be at Swan Lake Memory Gardens.
Shirley was born on March 30, 1930 in Peoria, the daughter of Lionel and Mabel (Smith) Wahlquist. She married Kenneth “Kenny” L. Gritton on March 31, 1975 in Peoria. He preceded her in death on December 28, 2011. She was also preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her children, Karen (Martin) Collier, Gary Jackson and Paula Howe, all of Peoria; five grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
Shirley worked for Bergner’s, first in the downtown Peoria store and then at the distribution center. She retired in 1975.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Clary Funeral Home, 3004 West Lake Avenue in Peoria.
Memorial contributions may be made in Shirley’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association.
