Russell W. Barber of Melbourne, FL, formerly of Peoria, IL, died at 11:45PM on May 4, 2021.
Bud was born in Peoria to Russell K. and Alma (Kreiter) Barber on August 2, 1938. He married Shirley M. Bischoff on March 3, 1962. She survives him.
He was a member of Local #34 and received his 55-year pin. He worked for Blackwell Electric and Oberlander Electric Companies, as an estimator and a journeyman electrician. He was a charter member of the Peoria Chiefs Booster Club, a member of the Independent Sportsmen Club, the Old Timers Baseball Association, and the Space Coast Woodcarving Club. His hobby was woodcarving birds and the likes.
He is survived by his stepchildren, Cheryl (Joe) Sleiman of Melbourne, FL, Don (Suzan) Bischoff of Odessa, Fl, brother Kenneth Barber of Dunlap, IL, sister Cherie (Tom) Biggar of Henry, IL, step granddaughters Jena Sleiman of CA, Lisa Marie Bischoff Lopez of CA, step grandsons Paul (Lori) Bischoff of CA, Steven Bischoff of CA, and Sean Sleiman of FL. Step great grandsons Konnor Bischoff of CA, Larry Paul Bischoff and Randall Lopez of CA, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. His parents and two stepsons, Larry Bischoff & David Bischoff and wife Susan, nephew Scott Barber and sister-in-law Bonnie Barber preceded him in passing.
Visitation and Internment will be at Swan Lake Mausoleum in Peoria, IL on Friday, May 14, 2021 at 2PM with visitation 1 hour prior. In lieu of flowers, memorials to be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church of Peoria - General Fund. Arrangements are under the care of Cumerford-Clary Funeral Home in Peoria.
