Rosie Rickmon
November 20, 1947 — June 16, 2014
Rosie B. Rickmon, 66, of Peoria, passed away peacefully at 3:17 a.m. on Monday, June 16, 2014, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 23, 2014, at the Pentecostal Church of Jesus Christ in Peoria, with Elder Henry L. Bolden II officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will be at Mt. Hawley Cemetery in Peoria.
Rosie was born on November 20, 1947 in Clarksdale, MS, the daughter of Elias Adams, Jr. and Mattie Lee Owens. She was the only child born to this union. They preceded her in death, along with her stepfather, Sam Epps; grandson, Sherman B. Smith; and great granddaughter, Jaliyah Lewis. She married Henry L. Rickmon on May 28, 1989. He survives.
She is also survived by her daughter, JoAnn Adams (Kenny M.) Anderson; sons, Louis (Denise White) Rickmon, Craig (Tonya) Rickmon and Sherrod (Breena) Rickmon; grandchildren, Lakisha J. (Willie Irby, Jr.) Adams of McDonough, GA, Nikki Smith of St. Louis, MO and Bryson Sweeten and Shaunessy Rickmon, both of Peoria; and great grandchildren, Janasia and Jayla Lewis, Keshaun and Kierra Rose Irby, Kelyiah Harris and JaVon Smith.
As a young girl, Rosie would travel back and forth to Chicago to spend time with her grandmother, where she later made it her residence, before moving to Peoria. She worked as a nursing assistant, caring for the elderly for many years, before moving back to Peoria to work for Caterpillar, until her retirement.
Rosie, called by many as Rose, was a very sweet and loving person and one of God’s greatest testimonies. She gave her life to Christ and joined the Pentecostal Church of Jesus Christ in Peoria.
She suffered many illnesses, but God kept her here. She was able to go on and show everyone she came in contact with God’s mercy and blessing in her life. She would do anything she could to help her family and friends.
Rosie will be truly missed by all that knew and loved her. She loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren very much, which kept a smile on her face, even though she was not feeling well, until God called her home.
Funeral services have been entrusted to Clary Funeral Home, 3004 West Lake Avenue, in Peoria.
