Roscoe Evans

Roscoe Douglas Evans, 90, of Peoria, passed away on Thursday, February 26, 2015, at his home.
Funeral services will be at noon on Wednesday, March 4, 2015, at St. Paul Baptist Church in Peoria, with Pastor Deveraux Hubbard officiating. Visitation will be from 10:30 to noon on Wednesday, prior to services at the church. Cremation rites will be accorded, following services.
Roscoe was born on November 29, 1924 in New Albany, MS, a son of Orlando “Ches” and Onnie (Palmer) Evans. He married Lura Mae Kimmons in July of 1946. They celebrated sixty-one years together. She preceded him in death in October of 2007. He was also preceded in death by his parents, son, Ronald D. Evans, and four brothers, Palmer, Charles and Allen Evans and Fred Wheaton.
He is survived by his daughter, Leha Young of Peoria; granddaughters, Erica (Christopher) Lockett of Bloomington and Andrea (Jeremy) Wilson of Plano, TX; great grandchildren, Layla and Loren Wilson and CJ Lockett; brother, Fred (Glenda) Evans; and sister, Hazel Leaper of New Albany, MS.
Roscoe was a U.S. Army World War II veteran. He retired from Pabst Brewery in Peoria Heights. He was one of the oldest members of St. Paul Baptist Church and was an active member of the Peter H. Clark Elks Lodge 483 in Peoria. He enjoyed meeting his friends for breakfast, every Thursday morning at The 50’s Diner at the Metro Centre.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Clary Funeral Home, 3004 West Lake Avenue, in Peoria.
