Rosalie D. Schierer, 75, of Peoria, was called home to the house of the Lord, surrounded by loved ones at 8:20 a.m. on Tuesday, December 9, 2014, at her home.
She was born on January 30, 1939 in Peoria to Carl and Thelma (Loeb) Hafele. They preceded her in death, along with her grandson, Matthew Stuart; sisters, Patricia Jones and Donna Miller; brothers, Joseph Hafele, Charles Hafele and Robert Hafele and her father-in-law, Raymond Schierer. She married James Robert Schierer on August 16, 1958 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Peoria Heights.
Rosalie is survived by her husband of fifty-six years; daughters, Theresa (Bruce) Stuart of Lexington, NE and Julie (Morris) Lovette of Peoria; sons, Daniel R. Schierer of Peoria, Christopher (Deb) Schierer of Delong and Timothy (Teresa) Schierer of Peoria; brother, James (Lynda) Hafele of Peoria; sister, Victoria Mathers of Peoria; Mother-in-law, Lois Schierer and eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
She was employed at the Peoria Civic Center, as a waitress, for sixteen years, retiring in 1997. Previously, she volunteered as a cafeteria and playground monitor at Holy Family Parish School in Peoria.
Rosalie was a member at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Peoria Heights, where a Memorial Mass will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 13, 2014, with Fr. Thomas Taylor as celebrant. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, December 12, 2014, at Clary Funeral Home, 3004 West Lake Avenue in Peoria, and one hour prior to the Mass at St. Thomas on Saturday.
