Rodrigo Mendez, 47, of Washington, passed away at 8:25 p.m. on Friday, September 20, 2013, at Proctor Hospital in Peoria.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 26, 2013, at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Washington, with Pastor Richard Hanson officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, September, 25, 2013, at Clary Funeral Home, 3004 West Lake Avenue, in Peoria. Interment will be in Glendale Cemetery in Washington.
Rodrigo was born on July 29, 1966 in Panuco, Veracruz, MX, a son of Ramon and Maria (Arreguin) Mendez. His mother preceded him in death, along with two brothers, Ramon and Juan Mendez, and a sister, Juanita Mendez. He married Cecilia Angeles on April 1, 1995 in Mexico City, MX. She survives.
He is also survived by his sons, Rodrigo and Andres Mendez, both at home; father, Ramon Mendez of Peoria; brothers, Jose “Trino” (Marina) Mendez of Chicago, Roberto (Maria) Mendez of Peoria, Enrique (Sara) Mendez of Washington and Javier Mendez of Mexico City; sister, Griselda (Misael) Mendez of Peoria; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Rodrigo was a painter for WECO Crane and Equipment Service in Eureka and was formerly employed with Morton Industries, formerly Morton Welding, Libby’s in Morton and St. Bernard Parish in Peoria.
He loved spending time with his family at the lake, supporting his children at their sporting events, volunteering at church food pantries and doing maintenance and yard work at his apartment complex.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Rodrigo Mendez Children’s Education Fund at PNC Bank in Washington.
