Robert M. Nyberg, 91, of Peoria passed away at 12:50 pm on April 27, 2014.
He was born on April 30, 1922 in Donnellson, IA to Robert A. Nyberg and Frieda (Hoyer) Nyberg. He married Virginia (Bingham) Nyberg on September 18, 1964 in Peoria.
Surviving are his wife, Virginia, one daughter, Suziann (Thomas) Gross of Carol Stream, IL, three grandchildren, Michael, Brian and Adam Gross, all of Carol Stream, IL, as well as many nieces and nephews. Robert is preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters, Doris White of Bethel Park, PA and Roberta Collins of Woodland Park, CO.
He graduated from Peoria High School and went on to serve in the Coast Guard during WWII. Robert worked for Sherex Chemical Company and retired after 27 years.
Robert loved nature and all of God's Creation. He was a former member of the Audubon Society, Peoria Camera Club, and First United Methodist Church in Peoria.
A funeral service will be held at Swan Lake Memory Gardens, located at 4601 West War Memorial Drive on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at 2:00 pm. A graveside service will follow. Cumerford-Hurd Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in honor of Robert may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
