Natalie Evans, 86, of Peoria passed away at 7:15 p.m. on Saturday, October 8, 2016, at her home, surrounded by her family.
Natalie was born on October 6, 1930, in Blue Mountain, MS to Samuel Major Walker and Annie (Hill) Rogers. She married Charles L. Evans on February 11, 1953 in New Albany, MS. He preceded her in death on September 19, 2014 in Peoria. She was also preceded in death by her parents; brothers, George, Amos, Paul and Samuel; sisters, Elizabeth and Mary; and granddaughter, Eron N. Evans.
She is survived by her children, Darlene Evans of Houston, TX, Michael (Mary) Evans, Kim Evans and Paula Evans, all of Peoria; sisters, Effie Bonner of Blue Mountain, MS, Grace Turner of Racine, WI and Verlene (Oscar) Penn of Peoria; grandchildren, Kyle Crawford of Texas, Martien Williams of Chicago, Myk (Breon) Phillips, Perrian Fuller, Lacey Fuller and Jordan Lindsay, all of Peoria; eleven great-grand children; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Natalie was a member of St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church. She was a Labeler with Hiram Walker and was formerly employed at Jim’s Steakhouse and OSF St. Francis Medical Center. She was a wonderful mother; a great teacher, nurturer and cook; and a student of life.
Funeral services will be at 6 p.m. on Thursday, October 13, 2016, at Clary Funeral Home, 3004 West Lake Avenue in Peoria, with visitation one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Interment will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 14, 2016, at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield.
Natalie’s family would like to acknowledge Dr. Charles Lagoski; UnityPoint Hospice; and home hospice caregivers: Marneda Alexander, Kim Stuman, Trenia Mackey, Linda Phillips and Yvetta King; and sisters, Verlene Penn and Effie Bonner, for their wonderful care.
