Monterey Simpson

Monterey M. Simpson, 65, of Peoria, passed away at 10:44 a.m. on Sunday, February 1, 2015, at his home.
He was born on December 28, 1949 in Peoria, the son of Lillian M. (Simpson) Grant. His mother preceded him in death, along with his significant other for over twenty-five years, Glenda Wilson; sister, Chloe Simpson; and brother, Shannon Grant, Jr.
Monterey is survived by his brother, Gregg (Mary) Grant of Adelanto, CA; sisters, Cheryl Grant and Constance (Grant) Pruitte, both of Peoria; cousin, Tanya Buckner of Peoria; numerous nieces and nephews; and the Mike Ice family.
After twenty-five years of employment, Monterey retired from UFS, where he was a retail supervisor.
As a child, Monterey was raised at Bethel United Methodist Church in Peoria and was a graduate of Woodruff High School in Peoria. He enjoyed spending time on the computer and being with his loved ones.
Cremation rites have been accorded and there will be no public service or visitation.
Arrangements have been entrusted with Clary Funeral Home, 3004 West Lake Avenue, in Peoria.
