Monica Renee (Grant) Frieson, 47, of Chicago, passed away at 9:40 p.m. on Tuesday, March 26, 2013, at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home.
Funeral services will be at noon on Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at Bethel United Methodist Church, 210 Richard Pryor Place in Peoria, with the Rev. Dr. Rose Booker-Jones officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will be at Lutheran Cemetery in Peoria.
Monica was born in Peoria on November 19, 1965, a daughter of Elmer Wright and Constance (Grant) Pruitte. Her father and brother, Galan Grant, preceded her in death.
She is survived by her son, Brandon Grant of Joliet; daughter, Kandace Grant of Galesburg; son, Marvin Davis of Galesburg; grandchildren, Colby Saganiuk, Deja Renee Cowart and Jahriah Mo’ney Marie Davis; many nieces and nephews; siblings, Reginald Grant of Galesburg, Deidre Grant of Bolingbrook, Elmira Flame Akama and Zanita Lewis of Peoria and Carla Wright-Sprattling, Tisha Gladney and Elmer Wright, Jr., all of Atlanta, GA.
Monica was a graduate of Manuel High School in Peoria and earned her Bachelor Degree at Robert Morris College. She later earned two separate Masters Degrees from Concordia University in Chicago. Recently, she began her doctoral program at Argosy University and was semesters away from her PhD.
She enjoyed her children and grandchildren and was a member of Christ Temple Church in Joliet.
Funeral services have been entrusted to Clary Funeral Home, 3004 West Lake Avenue, in Peoria.
