Mary E. Smith, of Peoria, passed away at 6:15 AM Monday, April 15, 2013.
She was born August 28, 1920 in Atlanta, Georgia. She married James Neal Smith, May 19, 1943.
She is survived by her children, James ( Jennifer Anderson) Smith of Peoria, Il, Betty Brenkman of Peoria, Il, sisters; Alice (Ed) Shaw, Effie (Walter) Pattillo, brother, Arthur Lackey, all of Stockbridge, GA, a niece Brenda (Gene) Stephens, of Stockbridge, GA, Granddaughters; Sybil Henderson of Peoria, Il., Jennifer Scudder of Bartonville, Il, Rachael (Jason) Trovillion of Mackinaw, Il, and many other grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, two daughters; Ruth Jenkins and Rebecca Schertz, five brothers and four sisters.
Mary was a Produce Handler at Peoria Produce for many years and retired from there in the early 1980's. She was also a great gardener, and loved growing delicious tomatoes. She also looked forward to her annual trip to Georgia every year.
Services for Mary will be held at Cumerford-Hurd Funeral Home Thursday April 18, 2013 at 2:00 PM, with visitation prior to the service beginning at 12 noon. Pastor TerryAnn Dumyahn will officiate the service.
Memorial donations may be made to Vitas Hospice Care. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.cumerford.com
