Mary Ellen Byrne, 63, of West Peoria, passed away at 5:10 a.m. on Friday, April 10, 2015, at the Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 14, 2015, at St. Mark Catholic Church in Peoria, with Fr. Geoffrey Horton as celebrant. Visitation will be at St. Mark, one hour prior to the Mass. Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery in Peoria.
Mary Ellen was born on June 2, 1951 in Peoria, a daughter of Oran H. and Marie S. (Stecher) Byrne. They preceded her in death.
She is survived by her brother, Richard (Ruth Ann) Byrne of Florida; sisters, Carol (Henry) Kellington of Mapleton, Susan (Charles) Woolley of West Peoria and Patricia (Charles) Kluenie of Summerfield, FL; her sweetheart, Howard Johnson of Peoria; and several nieces and nephews.
Mary Ellen was employed at the Community Workshop for over forty years. She was a parishioner of St. Philomena Parish and enjoyed needlework, St. Louis Cardinals Baseball and spending time with her family and friends.
The family would like to acknowledge Etna Lane with the Community Workshop & Training Center and Jill, Dawn, Steve and Chuck with OSF Hospice, for all of their assistance.
Memorial contributions may be made in Mary Ellen’s memory to the Community Workshop or OSF Hospice.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Clary Funeral Home, 3004 West Lake Avenue, in Peoria.
