Mark Nolan

October 17, 1955 — January 18, 2015

Mark S. Nolan, 59, of Peoria, passed away on Sunday, January 18, 2015, in the arms of his loving partner, David Bauman, and surrounded by his family.
He was born in Decatur on October 17, 1955 to Paul J. and Marjorie (Gambrel) Nolan.
Mark is survived by his devoted partner of 25 years, David Bauman; his sister, Beth (Rod) Merriman of Colorado Springs, CO; brothers, J. Michael (Janet) of Colorado Springs, CO and John M. (Gale) of East Peoria. He is also survived by David’s family, Don and Susan Beason, Deana (Dennis) Dickerson, Dana Bauman, Donna (Steve) Allen and Darci Spasojevich. In addition, he leaves behind many nieces, nephews and friends to cherish his memory. His parents preceded him in death.
Growing up in Decatur, Mark graduated from Eisenhower High School and then attended Millikin University, graduating with a Bachelor’s in Business. Mark worked for many years in restaurant management at VOP’s, Donnelly’s and Joe’s Crab Shack. He most recently could be found behind the design counter at Gregg’s Florist in Peoria Heights.
During his youth, he was an avid and successful tournament tennis player, continuing into his adulthood. Mark was a passionate animal lover, leaving behind his dogs Myles and Allie. He is now spoiling Madeline and Luckydog in heaven.
Prior to his illness, Mark enjoyed many happy times with his family and David at the beach in Florida and the mountains of Colorado.
Mark was a very devoted uncle to Matthew Dickerson, who cherished his honesty and wit!
A special thank you to his OSF Home Care nurse, Jessica Everett, for the exceptional and loving care she provided.
Cremation rites have been accorded and a Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions can be made to SAMS no-kill animal shelter in Hanna City or Illinois CancerCare.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Clary Funeral Home, 3004 West Lake Avenue, in Peoria.
