Marie Gerkin

Marie Durr Gerkin, 94, of Peoria, passed away at 3:48 a.m. on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at Unity Point Methodist in Peoria.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 10, 2017 at Clary Funeral Home, 3004 West Lake Avenue in Peoria. Jeff Leeman will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 9, 2017 at the funeral home. Entombment will be at American Mausoleum.
Marie was born on December 10, 1922 in Rockport, IN, the daughter of Arthur and Callie (Nichols) Winkler. She married Lewis Gerkin on January 21, 1966 in Peoria. He preceded her in death on June 4, 1993. She was also preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Arthur Winkler.
She was also married to Bud Durr, whom she had two sons, Ron (Patricia) Durr of Peoria and Jim (Patricia) Durr of Powell, OH, both surviving. She is also survived by her son, Mike (Annette Hunt) Gerkin of Peoria; brother, Bill (Marian) Von Harz of Martinsville, IN; grandchildren, Matt Durr, Michelle (Joe) Fontana, Joey Durr, Megan (Anthony) Giammona and Brittany (Drew) Beck; and great grandchildren, Lucas, Ava, Giana and Sophie.
Marie was a meter maid for the City of Peoria in the late 1950’s. She then worked in Peoria City Hall as a clerk.
Memorial contributions may be made in Marie’s memory to Unity Point Health Hospice.
