Marian Lucille Smith, 83, of Peoria Heights, died on Friday, July 25, 2014 at Unity Point-Proctor in Peoria.
Marian was born to Alphonso and Bessie (Beebe) Emert on August 22, 1930 in Peoria. She married R.B. Smith on December 31, 1948 at Arcadia Avenue Presbyterian Church in Peoria. They spent 65 wonderful years together.
Surviving Marian is her husband, R.B., two daughters, Linda (Bob) Mosburg of Bartonville, and Cheryl Madigan of Dunlap, three sisters, Marjorie Moushon of Peoria, Bernice Patterson of Sunnyland, and Geraldine Counterman of Peoria. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Sheila (Bill) Doering of Creve Coeur, Laura Henry of Pekin, Billy Joyce of Peoria, Kellie Joyce of Peoria, Jacob Madigan of Dunlap, April Madigan of Florida, and Christian Madigan of Dunlap, five great grandchildren, Shawnae Doering of Michigan, Scotti Doering of Creve Coeur, Ashley (Chance) Johnson of Marquette Heights, Tony Henry of Pekin, Nathan Richey of Peoria, and one great-great granddaughter, Morgan Johnson of Marquette Heights. She is preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Roberta Joyce, a sister, Phyllis Emert, six brothers, Bob Emert, Harvey Emert, Larry Emert, Joe Emert, Gerald Emert, and Don Emert, and one granddaughter, Jody.
Marian spent her life taking care of her home and her family. She loved playing with all of her grandchildren, and enjoyed word search puzzles. She dedicated many years to the VFW Women's Auxiliary in Peoria Heights as well.
A visitation for Marian will be held at Cumerford-Hurd Funeral Home, located at 428 West McClure Avenue in Peoria on Friday, August 1, 2014 from 11:00am to 1:00pm. A graveside service will be held at Swan Lake Memory Garden at 1:30pm.
Memorial donations in honor of Marian may be given to the charity of the donor's choice.
