Luis Legaspi

Luis B. “Louie” Legaspi, 88, of Peoria, passed away at 2:18 a.m. on Sunday, September 25, 2016 at Liberty Village of Peoria.
He was born on July 21, 1928 in Manila, Philippines, son of Simplicio and Cayetana (Buhain) Legaspi and stepson of Joan Legapsi of Bartonville. He married Benilda Pineda on January 1, 1956, in Manila. She preceded him in death on October 14, 2007 in Peoria. He was also preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Salvador, Quintin and Nonoy.
Louie is survived by his daughter, Gracita (Gary) Edwards of Princeville; son, Nicanor (Shelly) Legaspi of Georgia; grandchildren, Chris (Heather) and Matt (Kim) Edwards, Bethany (Matt) Osborne and Lacy and Trent Legaspi; great-grandson, River Edwards; stepsisters, Victoria, Lisa Legaspi and Lanell (Roger) Huber; and stepbrothers, Andy (Diane), Aaron (Debbie) and Matt (Brenda) Legaspi.
He retired from Caterpillar, after twenty years of service, and was an employee of Sealtest Dairy Farm. He served as past President of the Filipino-American Society of Central Illinois and served for the U.S. Forces through the Filipino Scouts. He enjoyed cooking and spending time with his family. He was always caring, warm and fun.
A Memorial Mass will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 1, 2016, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Kickapoo, with Fr. Joseph Dondanville as celebrant. Visitation will be one hour prior to the Mass on Saturday, at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Kickapoo or to the Filipino-American Society of Central Illinois (FASCI).
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted with Clary Funeral Home, 3004 West Lake Avenue, in Peoria.
