Kathryn Costa

Kathryn Rae Costa, 84, of Edwards, died January 4, 2014 at Lutheran Hillside Village in Peoria, with her husband by her side.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, January 10, 2014 at Bethany Baptist Church in Edwards with Senior Pastor, Dr. Ritch Boerckel officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to7 p.m. on Thursday, January 9, 2014 at Clary Funeral Home, 3004 W. Lake Avenue in Peoria. Interment will be at Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria.
Kathryn was born August 10, 1929 in Munising, MI, a daughter of Darrell and Blonda (Ballinger) Dern. She married Myrl Costa on March 30, 1975 in Peoria. He survives.
Also surviving from a previous marriage to Daniel Mullen are daughters; Linda (Russell) Lillard, Deborah (Terry) Mills and Marjorie Walker, sons; Daniel M. Mullen Jr. and Thomas (Renita) Mullen. She is survived by her children from her marriage to Myrl, sons; David (Kim) Costa and Brian Costa, daughter; Tonya (Rusty) Davenport; one sister, Mary Neeley; 25 grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Carol Jean.
Kathryn taught school for Peoria Public School District 150 at Harrison Grade School for 27 years. She and her husband enjoyed traveling and showing their Flemish Giant rabbits. She also enjoyed looking for the Wall Drugs stores and winning at the casinos. She stayed busy with reading and sewing.
She had struggled with Alzheimer’s. Memorial contributions may be made in Kathryn’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association.
