Josephine M. "Tootie" (Monroe) Hyder, 90, passed away at Unity Point Health-Methodist at 12.55 pm on Friday, April 3, 2015.
Josephine was born on December 13, 1924 in Peoria to Anson Seth and Caroline (Mueller) Monroe.
Jo was preceded in death by her parents, twin brother, Robert Monroe, sisters, Elizabeth "Betty" Girdzus and Rachel Girdzus. Survived by her sister, Adeline Holm of Peoria.
Aunt Jo had no children but was blessed with loving and caring nieces and nephews: Pat (Carl) Szentes of Indianapolis, Terry (Becky) Girdzus of Crown Point, IN, Janice Fauser of Peoria, Jerry (Alma) Holm of Hanna City, Rebecca Saurs of East Peoria, and Steve Holm of Palm Springs, CA.
Also surviving are 15 great nieces and nephews along with 23 great-great nieces and nephews.
Jo worked for the Civil Service in Chicago and Tokyo, Japan and retired from Transmission Supply in Peoria.
A Celebration of Life will be at a later date for family and friends.
Per her wishes, cremation will be accorded. Cumerford-Hurd Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to an animal charity of donor's choice.
