John "Tony" A. Albert, 39, of Kingston Mines, passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2020 at his residence.
Funeral services will be at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, March 16, 2020 at Clary Funeral Home, 3004 West Lake Avenue in Peoria, with Reverend Ethan Carnes, officiating. Visitation will be from 10 to 12 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at Lancaster Cemetery in Glasford.
Tony was born on August 13, 1980, in Peoria, a son of Carl and Donna (Sinks) Albert. He married Sara Kaufmann on April 18, 2009 in Peoria. She survives.
He is also survived by his father, Carl (Dawn) Albert of Bartonville; children, Tyler Pennington of Creve Coeur, Sheali Albert, John Xander Albert and Zane Albert, all of Kingston Mines; and siblings, Robert "Bob" (Ami) Albert of Peoria, Billy (Cynthia) Albert of Bartonville, Melissa (Brandon) Skocaj of Pekin and Brandi Grisham of Bartonville.
Tony was preceded in death by his mother and brother, Matthew Blair.
He worked at Keystone Steel and Wire as a metallurgist. Some of his hobbies were bowling, playing guitar, fishing, mushroom hunting, camping, traveling and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed the "herbal life". He liked to go to concerts, video game tournaments and work on his Corvette. His favorite song was "Into the Mystic" by Van Morrison. He listened to classic rock music and liked the old country music of Johnny Cash and Hank Williams. He collected knives, swords and guns. He rooted for the Chicago Bears and was a fan of Walter Payton and Brian Urlacher. He watched boxing and UFC. His favorite place to be was at home with his family, out in the wilderness or at the "Pear Tree" at the family home.
Tony's family is most proud of him for his strength, both physically and mentally. He was an amazing father, husband, brother and son. He was his family's hero and protector. He did whatever was needed to take care of his family. They described him as a fun loving, hardworking and respectful family man. He was chivalrous and had an "old school" personality. He will be missed by everyone who knew him.
Memorial contributions may be made in Tony's memory to a fund for his children at Redbrand Credit Union or Glasford State Bank.
