Jean Harms

July 30, 1933 — August 13, 2016

Jean L. Harms, 83, of Peoria, passed away at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 13, 2016 at Unity Point Proctor in Peoria, surrounded by her family.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at First English Lutheran Church in Peoria, where she was a member. Pastor Knight Wells will officiate the service. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Parkview Cemetery.
Jean was born on July 30, 1933 in Peoria, the daughter of Arch and Eva (Abele) Keller. They preceded her in death, along with a grandson, J.R. Roberson. She married Howard Harms in Peoria on April 2, 1955.
She is survived by her husband of Peoria; daughters, Jan (Frank) Peard of Western Springs and Kathy (Ralph) Franckiewicz of Boise, ID; grandchildren, Christopher Roberson, Meghan Nadorff-Keyser, Ashley and Nicholas Nadorff, Sara (David) Hynds and Abigail and Sidney Peard; and one great grandson, Gavin Keyser.
Jean received her Bachelor Degree in Music Education from Illinois Wesleyan. She had a passion for music and taught piano lessons from her home for many years. She taught preschool at University United Methodist Church, Music Education at Carl Sandburg College and taught at Peoria District 150.
She loved Jesus Christ and her church, where she served on the church council and was a member of the Rebecca Circle. She adored her family and friends. She was loving and devoted to her husband, children and grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made in Jean’s memory to her church or to the Salvation Army.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Clary Funeral Home, 3004 West Lake Avenue in Peoria.
