James “Roscoe” Furlow 75, of Peoria, Ill passed away on Sunday January 23, 2022 at Richard L. Owens Hospice Home. He was born on June 19, 1946 in Du Quoin, Ill. The son of James Edward and Geraldine (Morrow) Furlow. He married Pamela Pudney on January 29, 1968 in Peoria. She preceded him in death on October 18, 2002.

Roscoe has Sauk Native American heritage. He was a true warrior with a free-spirit and a warm loving heart. He was the type of person who would give you his very last without hesitation. He was a very generous man and he loved to socialize. He never met at stranger in his life, anyone was his partner. Roscoe was a provider to his family. There was not one of us who went without the things we needed. He was a very loving, interesting and a very intelligent man. Roscoe served in the U.S. Army and proudly fought for our country. He loved his Harley-Davidson motorcycle. He loved to go on joy rides even more. He also enjoyed beadwork. He would bead some f the most beautiful artwork on any fabric or object. He was a very talented and determined man. “I Can’t…” was not a phrase ever in his vocabulary. He was avid fisherman and loved watching westerns and boxing. Roscoe was an engineer working for CA Powell until his accident on the job in 1981. He was told that he would never be able to walk again, but through the grace of God, he taught himself how to walk again. He has gained much love and respect from many. We will miss him dearly.

Roscoe is survived by two daughters Roxanne (Charles) McGhee of Peoria, Robyn Porter of Peoria; seven grandchildren Spencer Furlow of Wisconsin, Larry Watts II of Peoria, Garyia Hawkins of Peoria, Geneva Watts of Peoria, Arianna McGhee of Peoria, Devin Watts of Peoria, Kayla McGhee of Jacksonville, FL; eleven great-grandchildren; one brother Jeffrey (Sandra) Wagnaar of Hanna City, three very special cousins Barbara Jean of Manhattan, IL, Kathy Livingston of Du Quoin and Judy Cook of Oregon.

A special message from Roxanne Furlow:

I cried when you passed away. Although I love you dearly I couldn’t make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating.  Hard working hands at rest, God broke my heart too prove to me he only takes the best. I love you daddy forever and ever. Even beyond eternity. Sleep peacefully daddy. I’ll see you when I get there. Thank you for being a wonderful father.
