Herbert Dale “Herb” Wilson, 82, of Peoria, passed away at 10:50 p.m. on Wednesday, May 11, 2011, at his daughter’s home in Chillicothe.
Funeral services to celebrate Herb’s life will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 18, 2011, at Clary Funeral Home, 428 West McClure Avenue, in Peoria, with Pastors Steve Weber and Dennis Pycraft officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 17, 2011, also at the funeral home. Interment will be in Springdale Cemetery in Peoria.
Herb was born in Benton on January 2, 1929, a son of Lemon Ralph and Alla Jane (Todd) Wilson. He married Dolores L. Davis on January 2, 1951 in Franklin County. She preceded him in death on March 10, 2010 in Peoria. He was also preceded in death by his parents, one sister and four brothers.
He is survived by his daughters, Lori (Guy) Emhoff of Chillicothe and Lois Wilson of Pekin; sister, Nancy Woodall of East Peoria; brother, Bobby Wilson of Wake Village, TX; five grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
Herb retired in 1993, after forty-four years of service, as a welder for Caterpillar’s East Peoria and Mossville facilities.
He attended Eastside Bible Church in Morton and was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran.
Herb enjoyed Gospel music, spending time in his garage, mowing grass, going to ICC girls’ basketball games, Dunlap football games and Chuck’s Small Engine Repair Shop. He loved sports, especially St. Louis Cardinals baseball, Chicago Bears football and Chicago Bulls basketball.
He enjoyed helping anyone and everyone and had a great love for the Lord, his family, friends and everyone he would come in contact with.
Herb will be remembered as a hardworking family man, giving constant love and care to his wife and family, especially those grandkids.
Memorial contributions may be made in Herb’s memory to Eastside Bible Church in Morton.
