Grant S. Walbolt, 94, of Dunlap, passed away at 4:50 a.m. on Saturday, August 13, 2011, at Heartland of Peoria.
Graveside services and interment will be at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, August 15, 2011, at Mt. Hawley Cemetery in Peoria. Military Honors will be provided by the American Legion Post 2 in Peoria.

rant was born on March 1, 1917 in Waterville, OH, a son of Harold G. and Helen F. (Farnsworth) Walbolt. He married Mary Anne Fisher on August 24, 1941 in Wapakoneta, OH. They were married for sixty-five years. They made their home in Clarendon Hills, IL, Sacramento, CA, McAllen, TX and Napa, CA, before moving to Dunlap in 2002. She preceded him in death on July 19, 2006 in Peoria. He was also preceded in death by his brother, David H. Walbolt and sister, Betty H. Jackson.
He is survived by his daughter, Sue (Cres) Fluegel of Dunlap; son, Jim (Margy) Walbolt of Fairfield, CA; grandchildren, Brett (Thao Chu) Fluegel of Portland, OR, Brandon (Heather) Fluegel of Chicago, Ed (Katrena) Walbolt of Fairfield, CA, Tom (Monica) Walbolt of Rancho Cucamonga, CA and Carrie (Ted) Helwick of Mountainview, CA; great granddaughter, Katelyn Walbolt of Fairfield, CA; and sister, Alice E. Nightingale of Toledo, OH.
Grant was a U.S. Navy World War II veteran and earned the rank of lieutenant. He earned his Bachelor of Science from Ohio State University in 1940 and was the Procurement Manager for Campbell Soup Company, retiring in June of 1978, after thirty-eight years of service.
He was a longtime Presbyterian Church Elder and member of Northminster Presbyterian Church in Peoria and its choir, Peoria Downtown Kiwanis, Peoria American Legion Legion Post 2, Lions Club of Clarendon Hills, Pride of Peoria Barbershop and Barbershop of Napa and Vacaville, CA.
Memorial contributions may be made in Grant’s memory to the Peoria Salvation Army.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Clary Funeral Home, 3004 West Lake Avenue in Peoria.
