Gisela was born on August 4, 1940 in Geislingen-Steige, Germany, the daughter of Emil and Else (Vetter) Belzner. They preceded her in death. She married Charles L. “Chuck” Meischner on February 5, 1960 in Goppingen, Germany. He survives.
She is also survived by her daughter, Ramona Meischner of East Peoria; sons, Frank Meischner of Peoria and Steven Meischner, Sr. of Las Vegas; brother, Bernd Belzner of Munich, Germany; one grandson; and great grandson, Steven Meischner, Jr. of Washington.
Gisela was formerly employed as a cook for Bradley University and Illinois Central College. She liked bird watching, especially humming birds; reading; listening to classic rock music, especially Led Zepplin and Neil Young; spending time at the Par-A-Dice Casino Riverboat; and flying to Germany every year.
She enjoyed her view of the river and wildlife at her country home and loved her family and friends, taking great pleasure in entertaining and cooking for them.
Gisela always put others before herself. She was one of the most loving, caring and selfless people you would ever know.
Memorial contributions may be made in Gisela’s memory to the Shriners Hospitals for Children.
