Georgia Anton, age 93, of Peoria, passed away on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at Manor Court of Peoria.
She was born to Thomas and Maria (Chiames) Anton on March 2, 1922 in Chicago.
Georgia is survived by her brother, Nicholas (Nell) Anton of Pekin; nieces and nephews Kristin Pippin and Gregory (Kimberly) Anton, both of San Diego, CA, Jim Anton of Des Plaines, Elena (Kelly) Delaney of Decatur, Barbara Lawson of Chicago; cousins Dr. Nick Panacos and Dr. William (Coula) Dracos, both of Waukegan; numerous great-nieces and a great-nephew; and her lifelong best friend, Ann Steinau of Peoria.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and one sister.
Georgia graduated high school and earned a Masters Degree in Education from Bradley University. She was a teacher at Norwood and Tyng schools for many years. At one time, she owned and operated Anton's Caramel Apples in Peoria, which she was well known for. She was also a lifelong member of the All Saints Greek Orthodox Church in Peoria.
A funeral service for Georgia will be held on Monday, December 14, 2015 at 11:00 AM at All Saints Greek Orthodox Church in Peoria. The Rev. Dr. Ciprian Sas will officiate. Visitation will be held at Cumerford-Hurd Funeral Home on Sunday, December 13, 2015 from 5:00pm-7:00pm with Trisagion Prayers beginning at 6:30pm. Burial will be held at Springdale Cemetery.
