Evelyn L. Johnson, 83 of Peoria Heights passed away Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL.

Born January 14, 1928 in Wooster, OH the daughter of John and Ethel (Conn) Bell. She married Jack W. Johnson on June 24, 1947 in Peoria, IL. He preceded her in death on March 4, 1990.

Surviving are her children; Elese Johnson of Creve Coeur, IL, Gibb (Lynn) Johnson of Marysville, WA, Todd (Kristen) Johnson of Peoria, IL, Anna (Dale) King of Elmwood, IL, Patricia (Mike) Mann of O'Fallon, IL, and Kim (Paul) Greiner of Knoxville, IL, 13 Grandchildren and 4 Great Grandchildren. Also surviving are her sisters; Barb, Susan and her loving dog Suzy.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister Nancy and a brother Jim.

Evelyn retired from OSF Saint Francis Medical Center.

She was a Girl Scout leader for many years in Peoria, a volunteer for the RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteer Program) and walked dogs for the Pets for Seniors.

She helped so many elderly people over the years by planting flowers for them, taking them to the store, doctor's office or any other errands that they might need. She loved music but Jazz was her favorite. Birds and flowers were her passion along with fishing. She was an avid reader and painter.

She touched the hearts of everyone she met and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 19 from 10-12:00 (Noon) at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe. A private family graveside will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Peoria. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to TAPS, Pets for Seniors, or the Peoria Heights Fire Department. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.weberhurdfuneralhome.com
