Elsie Peplow

Elsie E. Peplow, 89, of Peoria, passed away at 4:10 p.m. on Monday, May 12, 2014, at Heritage Health in Chillicothe.
Memorial services will be at 6 p.m. on Friday, May 16, 2014, at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Bartonville, with the Rev. Stephen Barch officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will be at Parkview Cemetery in Peoria.
Elsie was born on February 3, 1925 in Peoria, a daughter of Gus V. and Anna Elizabeth (Anderson) Johnson.
She married Wilbur Hancock on August 25, 1943 at Salem Lutheran Church in Peoria. He preceded her in death on January 4, 1967 in Peoria. She married Albert Joseph Peplow, Jr. on June 21, 1969 at Trinity Presbyterian Church. He preceded her in death on July 18, 2011 in Peoria. She was also preceded in death by her parents; brother, Gus Johnson; and sisters, Betty Snedden, Dorothy Herick and Virginia Koertge.
Elsie is survived by her daughter, Sharon (Chuck) Mason of Peoria; son, Jerry (Rae) Peplow of Peoria; grandchildren, Jennifer Wiesehan-Hoyt (Larry), Mark (Melissa) Wiesehan, Leslie (Rob) Hymbaugh, Casey Peplow and Cody (Tabitha) Peplow; and nine great grandchildren.
She was a receptionist for the Peoria Journal Star, ABC Appliance and River Valley Savings Bank in Peoria, retiring in 1995.
She was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church and the Heart of Illinois Women’s Club, where she had once served as Secretary. She enjoyed going to church, fishing, dining at Sky Harbor, traveling, going to the hair salon, oil painting, playing the organ, gardening and canning her special chili sauce. She was content, a good listener and always had a positive outlook.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted with Clary Funeral Home, 3004 West Lake Avenue, in Peoria.
