Elizabeth "Betty" Giles

Elizabeth Ann “Betty” Giles 88, of Peoria passed away on Wednesday March 16, 2022 at Aperion Care Morton Villa. She was born on June 25, 1933 in Hurley, MO the daughter of Albert and Mary Elsie (Barnett) Dean. Betty married Bill Giles on July 21, 1951 in Eureka Springs AR. He preceded her in death on August 5, 1994.

Betty was a member of the Emblem Club, Red Hats and Woodland Baptist Church of Peoria. She enjoyed golfing, bowling, crocheting, sewing and she was an avid reader. Betty was known for excellent baking and cooking skills. She always put the needs of others before her own. Betty’s strength and courage will be her family’s legacy. She will be remembered as a loving, compassionate and kind mother and grandmother.

She is survived by three children Kenneth Giles of Peoria, Joyce (John) Heerman Sr. of Peoria, William (Pam) Giles of Gurnee; two grandchildren John (Amy) Heerman Jr. of Mapleton, Cheryl (Brian) Silotto of East Peoria; six great-grandchildren Alyssa, Abigail, Brendan, Anthony, Vincent, Dominic; one brother Paul (Edna) Dean of Republic, MO and a host of neices and nephews.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband, five brothers Edwin, Freddie, Bob, Donald, Jerry; 2 sisters Wanda and Mary Jeanette. .

A visitation will be held on March 26, 2022 at Woodland Baptist Church of Peoria from 11am to 12pm. Funeral service will begin at 12pm. Pastor Joel Newton will officiate the service. Burial will follow at Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria.
