Eleanor Williams

Eleanor Ruth (Wise) Williams, 97, of Peoria, passed away on Wednesday, March 9, 2016, at the Apostolic Christian Skylines Home in Peoria.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 24, 2016, at Northminster Presbyterian Church in Peoria, with Rev. Mike Shirey officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Eleanor will be inurned, with her husband, at Arlington National Cemetery, at a later date.
Eleanor was born on October 11, 1918 in Champaign, the daughter of Dr. Lloyd H. and Jessie A. (Fletcher) Wise. She married Robert Jefferson Williams on April 5, 1941 at the First United Methodist Church in Champaign. He preceded her in death on March 6, 2010 in Melbourne Beach, FL. She was also preceded in death by her parents and brother, Dr. Thomas A. Wise.
She is survived by her children, Susan Shute of Peoria, Dr. Ronald (Betty) Williams of Lindenhurst and Nancy (Thomas) Tiernan of Arlington, VA; brother, Rev. Donald E. (Jennie) Wise of Decatur; four grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two nieces; and one nephew.
Eleanor graduated from the University of Illinois in 1941, with a Bachelor of Arts in Music, focusing on Vocal Performance and Piano. Over the years, she sang in her church choir, enjoyed opera and had a talent for interior decorating. To those who knew her, her genial personality matched her natural beauty.
Memorial contributions may be made in Eleanor’s name to the Apostolic Christian Skylines Home and the family would like to extend a very special thank you to their staff.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Clary Funeral Home, 3004 West Lake Avenue, in Peoria.
