Edith M. McCoy, 76, of Peoria, IL, passed away Saturday, January 18, at 1:13 p.m. surrounded by her family at her residence.
She was born on April 23, 1937, in Springfield, IL to Voris and Margaret Brown. Edith is survived by her husband of 60 years, Byrl McCoy. They were married in 1954 in Peoria, IL.
Surviving are her son, Gary McCoy of Normal, IL; her two grandchildren, Chase McCoy of Bloomington, IN, and Mallory McCoy of Asheville, NC. Other surviving members include her sister, Ann Wilson of Peoria, IL; her aunt, Shirley Murphy of Peoria, IL; her cousin, Sandy Shanahan of Pekin, IL; her nieces Joanne Pappas in Bossier City, LA, and Marlene Pappas and Debbie Ballou of Peoria, IL; her great nephew, Wesley Duffy, his wife, Lindy, and their children of Peoria, IL; her great nephew, Jason Duffy of Peoria, IL; and many loving other loving family members.
She was preceded in death by her son, Steve McCoy; her brother Robert Brown; and her parents.
Edith treasured spending time with her family. She loved animals, especially her boxer Libby. Edith was an avid reader, enjoyed crafting, and collecting antiques. She also loved playing bingo and cards with her girlfriends.
She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Peoria, IL.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2014, at Cumerford-Hurd Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 428 W. McClure Avenue, Peoria, Illinois at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will begin two hours before the services at the funeral home. Services to be performed by Pastor Dr. James Lillie.
