Edith Busse

Metamora- Edith E. Busse, 103, of Metamora passed away peacefully early Thursday, July 4, 2014 at Unity Point Methodist Hospital in Peoria with her family at her side.

She was born May 25, 1911 in Bird Island, MN, the daughter of Ellen and Elzie Grimm. She married Frank Busse on July 16, 1941 in Chicago. He preceded her in death on June 3, 1999.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Ole Grimm, of Cosmos, MN; a grandson; and a nephew.

Surviving are her brother Gerald (Phyllis) Grimm of Lakeville, MN and her children, Inez (Bruce) Norgard of Metamora and Dallas Busse of Genoa, Also surviving are her grandchildren Ellen (Terry) Forrest of Amery, WI; Dawn (Joe) Nowak of Brookfield; Karen (Patrick) Coyle of Peoria; and Casey Kalata of Genoa; nine great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was a homemaker and volunteered in the kitchen at Trinity Lutheran Church. She and her husband volunteered in the food pantry at North Austin Lutheran Church for over 20 years. Family was important to her. She was an integral part in the rearing of her grandchildren.

Visitation and memorial service will be Thursday, July 10, 2014 at Salem Lutheran Church in Peoria. Visitation will be at 10:00 am, with memorial service at 11:00 am. Burial will be Friday at Mount Olive Cemetery in Chicago at 11:00 am. Pastor David Hofer will officiate. Cumerford-Hurd is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to Salem Lutheran Church Memorial Fund or the charity of your choice in her name.
