E. Lucine (Lipe) Dickason Parks, 87, of Peoria died on Saturday, July 19, 2014 at Independence Village in Peoria.
She was born to Chesley and Nena (Cox) Lipe in Jacksonville County on July 1, 1927. She graduated from Vergennes Community High School and moved to Peoria in 1945. She married Darian Dickason on November 9, 1947 in Peoria. He preceded her in death in May of 1971. She later married HG Parks on December 4, 2005, and they shared a beautiful life together in California. He precedes her in death.
Surviving Lucine are her five nieces and nephews: Pat (Richard) Lewey of Peoria, Sandy Rourke of Mahomet, Gregory (Hilda) Lipe of Washington, Pam Lipe of St. Paul, MN, and Jenifer (Randy) Nelson of Omaha, NE; eleven great nieces and nephews; fifteen great-great nieces and nephews; two great-great-great nieces; a step-daughter, Becky (Joe) Grossi of Desert Hot Springs, CA; and a sister-in-law and cousin Martha Lu Dees of Carbondale. She is preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Lavern Lipe; and a sister-in-law, Lucille Lipe.
Lucine was hired on at Caterpillar for Employee Data Processing and Medical Benefits in 1950 and remained employed there until 1983. She became a member of First United Methodist Church in 1947, and she was a member of Bethel Bible Training Course where she was in training for two years and taught for two more. She actively taught small groups and Sunday School throughout her time at First United Methodist, and was blessed with four trips to the Holy Land. Lucine volunteered, served as a board member, and taught at Southside Mission, and was also involved in In His Footsteps Prison Ministry from 1984 into the 90's. Under the direction of Reverend Dan Huckins, and with the help of Shelley Weaver, Lucine developed an all church Prayer Ministry Prayer Conferences and new Ministries in Prayer. Her two callings were The Word and prayer. Lucine was also a Mary Kay consultant for 25 years.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2014 at 1:30pm at First United Methodist Church in Peoria. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church. Cremation rites have been accorded and a private family graveside service will be held at a later date. Cumerford-Hurd Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
