Donna Emrick

Donna J. Emrick, 50, of Peoria Heights, passed away at 5:20 a.m. on Monday, May 26, 2014, at her home.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Friday, May 30, 2014, at Peoria Heights Congregation Church, with Pastor Karl Kraemer officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria.
Donna was born on January 30, 1964 in Peoria, a daughter of Fredrick Donald and Mary Martha (Gammel) Luallen. They preceded her in death, along with her father in-law, Howard W. Emrick. She married David Kent Emrick on June 12, 2008 in Peoria. He survives.
She is also survived by her twin sister, Dora (Bradley) Welker of Sherman; mother in-law, Alice Emrick of Albion; nieces, Ashley Welker and Ashli and Laura Potter; nephews, Clayton Welker, Josh Potter and Max Short; uncle, Dr. Edward (Patsy) Gammel of Sacramento, CA; aunts, Betty (Dick) McQuality of Decatur and Lois Luallen of Mattoon; and sister in-laws, Julie Emrick of Peoria Heights, Carol (Tom) Potter of Grayville and Jeanne (Nathan) Short of Ellery.
Donna was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Peoria. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education and Masters of Education from the University of Illinois in Champaign.
She was a Customer Service Representative for HGS Global Solutions in Peoria, formerly Affina, where she was corporately recognized for her performance. She was a former teacher, principal and superintendent in various school districts in Illinois. She was formerly employed with the Illinois State Board of Education in administration, where she worked directly with the Financial Oversight Panels. She also served as Regional Director for the Northwest Region for the Illinois Principals Association.
Donna enjoyed dance, gymnastics, cooking, cats, the Chicago Bears, the Chicago Cubs, the Fighting Illini, sunning on her deck, grilling out and spending time with her family, especially in celebrating the holidays and supporting the accomplishments of her nieces and nephews. She was dedicated to education and loved helping children. She was outgoing, loving, generous and cared for others.
Memorial contributions may be made to Peoria Heights Congregational Church or to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Clary Funeral Home, 3004 West Lake Avenue, in Peoria.
