Donald “Don” Lynn Nafziger, 75, of Peoria, passed away at 9:20 a.m. on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria, with his family by his side.
Funeral services will be private. There will be no visitation. Interment will be at Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria.
Don was born on December 31, 1941 in Bloomington, a son of Carroll and Laveta (Crawford) Nafziger. They preceded him in death. He married Irene M. Mangold on April 2, 1966 in Peoria. She survives.
He is also survived by his daughters, Angela Nafziger and Kimberly (Jonathan) Wrigley, both of Peoria; grandchildren, Ashley, Kaitlyn and Nathan Suddith and Joshua and Justin Wrigley; and siblings, Sandy (Marty) Chlapecka of Bloomingdale and Doug (Kathy) Nafziger of Mapleton.
Don graduated from McMurray College in Jacksonville and was of the Methodist faith. After 30 years, he retired in 2006 from Peoria Blacktop/R.A. Cullinan/United Contractors Midwest. He worked hard all his life, giving 110%.
He was the most loving husband, father and grandfather anyone would want. He was always supportive of the goals and dreams of his wife and children. He adored his grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them and supporting them by attending their activities. He loved the outdoors- golfing, snowmobiling and yard work. He was always working on a project, be it yard work, electrical, plumbing or carpentry. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially helping his daughters.
Memorial contributions may be made in Don’s memory to OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Clary Funeral Home, 3004 West Lake Avenue, in Peoria.
