Daisy Pierce

September 3, 1926 — September 21, 2016

Daisy Elizabeth Pierce, 90, of Peoria, went home to be with her Lord, Jesus Christ, at 10:15 a.m. on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at Heartland Health Care Center in Peoria.
She was born on September 3, 1926 in Tellaga, KY, a daughter of Pierce and Elizabeth (Hill) Crawford. Though born in Kentucky, she attended school in the Dayton Public School System, after her family moved to Dayton, OH. It was there that she met and married Ernest Russell Pierce, a veteran of World War II. They were married on December 24, 1950. He preceded her in death in 2002 in Dayton.
Daisy was also preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Shiloh and Rosco Crawford; sisters, Evelyn and Grace Mae Crawford; and stepbrothers, Julius and Harold Strange.
She and Ernest were very proud of his military service. He served in the battle of Normandy in Northern France and was awarded several decorations and citations for his military service, including two Theatre Ribbons, two Bronze Stars and the World War II Victory Medal.
Daisy worked for many years in Dayton at Inland, a division of General Motors, until she departed, due to a disability from a work related injury.
To her union with Ernest were born five children: Marvin Pierce of Melbourne, Australia and the Rev. Tony (Dr. Valeria) Pierce, Joyce (Allen) Ogletree, Robin Pierce and Scott Pierce, all of Peoria. She is also survived by twenty-six grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Daisy received Christ as her savior and worshipped him as a member of Bethesda Temple, while living in Dayton. She continued her worship of Christ at Heaven’s View Christian Fellowship, after moving to Peoria, where her son, Tony, is one of three co-Senior Pastors.
Daisy’s family is very grateful for the dedicated service that many caregivers have provided in assisting with Daisy’s care over the years.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 1, 2016, at Heaven’s View Christian Fellowship, with Rev. Cliff Parks and Rev. Bob See officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m., prior to services at the church. Interment will be at Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria.
Memorial contributions may be made to Heaven’s View Christian Fellowship.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted with Clary Funeral Home, 3004 West Lake Avenue, in Peoria.
