Coolidge Tyler

Coolidge “Leon” Tyler, 50, of Peoria, passed away at 6:06 p.m. on Monday, December 5, 2011, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center.
He was born on May 4, 1961, in Dundee, MS, a son of Joe Cephus and Della Mae (Lewis) Tyler. Both preceded him in death along with his brother Johnny “Butch” Tyler.
Leon is survived by his daughter, Lareka Tyler of Peoria; brothers, William “Bill” Johnson of Peoria, Robert “Bob” Johnson of Delavan and Charles (Bernice) Johnson of Peoria; sister, Rutha Johnson of Peoria; and two grandchildren.
He was employed as a banquet chef for the Peoria Civic Center Centerplate for many years and was formerly a chef at Grandpa John’s, Hooters, Lums, River Station at the Hotel Peré Marquette.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Monday, December 12, 2011, at Clary Funeral Home, 3004 West Lake Avenue in Peoria, with Bishop Joseph Johnson officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Interment will be in Parkview Cemetery.
