Charles Furness Sr.

Charles D. Furness Sr., 75, of Peoria, passed away at 10:03 a.m. on Sunday, April 29, 2018, at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.
Funeral services will be at noon on Friday, May 4, 2018 at Clary Funeral Home, 3004 West Lake Avenue, with Minister Rodney Furness, officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be at Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria.
Charles was born on July 8, 1942 in Peoria, a son of George and Dorothy (Jamison) Furness Sr. He married Vera Dianne Rudd on January 11, 1964 in Peoria. She survives.
He is also survived by his children, Charles Furness Jr. of Iowa City, IA, Kim Furness, Aaron Furness and Jason Furness, all of Peoria; siblings, Betty (Gerald) Pulley of Galesburg, Ronald (Polly) Furness of Peoria and Judith (Odis) Trammell of Madison, WI; grandchildren, Ace, Sydney and Micah McClellon; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, George and Carlson Furness and Phyllis James.
He retired from Caterpillar as a security officer/fire inspector in 2000. He worked there for 36 years. He was a proud member of Local 235 UPGWA.
Memorial contributions may be made in Charles’ memory to the American Cancer Society.
