Betty McLeod

Betty J. (Singleton) McLeod, 76, of Peoria, passed away at 5:10 p.m. on Saturday, July 23, 2016, at her residence.
She was born on March 1, 1940 in Jackson, MS, a daughter of Louis and Sylvester (Williams) Singleton. She married Clyde McLeod in 1965 in Peoria. He preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Pumpkin and Joseph Singleton; four brothers; and one sister.
Betty is survived by her children, Clyde McLeod Jr. of Chicago, Michael Singleton of Lincoln, Joseph McLeod, Leon Singleton, Malcolm Singleton and Ruby McLeod, all of Peoria; grandsons, Josh (Toni) and Dean McLeod; great grandchildren, Morgan, Madison and Sophie McLeod; and sisters, Helen Singleton, Eunice Compton and Mary Singleton, all of Peoria.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Betty’s daughter-in-Law, Toni McLeod, two nieces, Chantea Green and Tesha Robinson and Miranda Carter and Shay Weldy, for the amazing care they gave Betty during her illness. They would also like to acknowledge all of the help they received from numerous friends.
Betty was a former bus monitor for District 150 and also worked at the Peoria State Hospital in Bartonville. She was a former member of Rose Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Peoria.
There will be no public visitation or service. Cremation rites have been accorded.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Clary Funeral Home, 3004 West Lake Avenue, in Peoria.
