Betty M. Knoblett, 88, of Washington passed away on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at Washington Christian Village.
She was born on May 24, 1926 in Peoria and raised by Lella Van Winkle. She married Howard Knoblett on June 26, 1948. He preceded her in death on December 29, 1998.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Michelle (Bill) Conger of East Peoria; daughter-in-law, Jean Knoblett-Jackson of Washington; grandchildren, Angela (Miles) Mcgowan of Washington, David (Rusti) Knoblett of Washington, and Aiden and Ian Conger of East Peoria. Also surviving are four great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sons, David Knoblett and Don Knoblett, and her adoptive brother, Bob Thomas.
Betty worked for ATandT for over 30 years as a telephone operator, retiring in 1983. She went back to work again as a telephone operator at OSF Healthcare, and retired in 1997.
Betty had a great love for gardening and being a grandma. She was also a skilled seamstress, a member of both Illinois Bell Retirees and OSF Senior Saints, and volunteered for many years at The Alliance for Mentally Ill.
A visitation will be held on Friday, January 23, 2015 from 4:00-6:00pm at Cumerford-Hurd Funeral Home, 428 West McClure Avenue in Peoria. Cremation rites will be accorded and a private family graveside service will be held at Swan Lake Memory Garden.
Memorial donations in honor of Betty may be made to National Alliance on Mental Illness.
