Bessie Simmons

Bessie Ann Simmons, 73, of Peoria, passed away at 1:12 p.m. on Tuesday, February 9, 2016, at the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 13, 2016, at the Northside Church of the Nazarene in Peoria, with Dr. John Spohn officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will be at Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria.
Bessie was born June 17, 1942 in Elmwood, a daughter of Vernon Darrell and Marianne Elizabeth (LaFallotte) Brown. She married Emery Charles Albee on September 28, 1961. He preceded her in death on November 17, 1996. She married Robert W. Simmons on June 14, 1997 in Washington. He preceded her in death on January 16, 2016 in Peoria. She was also preceded in death by her parents; son, Michael Albee; and three brothers, Albert and David Hacker and James Underwood.
She is survived by her daughter, Theresa Ernst of Peoria; stepchildren, Jeri (Mark) DuBois of Washington, Rae (Michael Sr.) Yates of Peoria, Robert Simmons Jr. of Washington, Laura Bowles of Creve Coeur and Kettra (Leo) Baker of Leroy; sisters, Jeanette Bridgman of Peoria and Sharon (Rick) Tannhauser of Creve Coeur; sixteen grandchildren; and thirty-five great-grandchildren.
Bessie earned her Associates Degree in Computer Science from Illinois Central College. She retired as a Homemaker for Community Care Systems in Peoria. She was formerly employed as a Computer Programmer for Foster & Gallagher in Peoria. She was a member of Living Rock Church in Peoria Heights.
Memorial contributions may be made in Bessie’s name to the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Clary Funeral Home, 3004 West Lake Avenue, in Peoria.
