Bessie Mitchell

Bessie Charlotte Mitchell, 96, of Peoria, passed away at 12:29 p.m. on Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 18, 2017 at Ward Chapel AME Church in Peoria, where she was a lifetime member. Reverend Adrian Johnson will officiate the service, with added remarks from Associate Pastor Reverend Arthur Williams. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Parkview Cemetery in Peoria.
Bessie was born on July 30, 1921 in Palmyra, MO, the daughter of Eugene and Bessie (Turner) Nott. They preceded her in death, along with her son, Martin Eugene Mitchell.
She married Martin Edward Mitchell, with whom she had her children, Harvey (Bonnie) Mitchell of Scottsdale, AZ, Nellie Mitchell, Edward (Patricia) Mitchell and Craig Mitchell, all of Peoria; seventeen grandchildren; and several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Bessie last worked as a records keeper in the Peoria County Circuit Clerks Office. She also had worked at the Crippled Children’s Center and for PARC.
She was awarded the 1 ^st Lifetime Membership of the Women’s Missionary Society. She was also a member of
