Barbara Alice Simpsen, 100, of Peoria Heights passed away on Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at Cornerstone Rehabilitation and Health Care in Peoria Heights.
She was born on November 22, 1914 to Charles W. and Melissa (Cox) Bartley in Erie, IL. Barbara married Rollin E. Simpsen in August of 1937. He preceded her in death in January of 1983.
Barbara is survived by one daughter, Sharon Simpsen Hamilton (Larry Stevens) of Colorado; 3 grandchildren, Christy Roberts (Larry Friend) of Peoria, Billy W. Simpsen (Annita) of Canton and Shaya L. Hamilton (Larry Ponder) of Texas; 7 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother, her son, Billy E. Simpsen, and her grandson, Larry Scott Hamilton.
Barbara worked at the Election Office for the City of Peoria, was an avid reader, loved to travel, and continued to volunteer after retirement.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, February 16, 2015 at 1:00pm at Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria.
Memorials in honor of Barbara may be made to OSF Hospice.
