August Ponzel

August F. Ponzel, 85, of Peoria, passed away at 8:45 a.m. on Friday, February 9, 2018 at Unity Point Methodist in Peoria.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Brimfield, with Reverend Michael Liese officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will immediately follow the service at Oak Hill Cemetery in Oak Hill.
August was born on April 27, 1932, the son of Emil and Margaret (Johnson) Ponzel. He married Violet Bennett on June 19, 1960 in Bartonville. She preceded him in death on October 19, 2009 in Peoria. His parents; daughter, Carla Jenkins; son, August Arthur Ponzel; and one sister, preceded him in death.
He is survived by his grandchildren, Emily (Dallas) Boswell and Austen, Allison and Alexis Jenkins, all of Edwards; sisters, Catherine Bennett of Peoria and Frieda Ponzel of Manito; and many nieces and nephews.
August worked at Hiram Walker in Peoria. He also owned and operated a farm for many years.
He was a US Army veteran.
Memorial contributions may be made in August’s memory to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Brimfield.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Clary Funeral Home, 3004 West Lake Avenue in Peoria.
