Annie Smith

Annie J. Smith, 82, of Trivoli, passed away at 1:35 p.m. on Saturday, October 17, 2015, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 22, 2015, at Church of Christ Northwest in Peoria, with David Spillman officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will be at Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria.
Annie was born on November 9, 1932 in Moulton, AL, a daughter of Arthur and Lura (Bogle) Darnell. They preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Joe Darnell, and a sister, Thelma Smith.
She married Ira B. Smith on November 3, 1950 in Iuka, MS. He survives. She is also survived by her daughter, Renetta Ballard of Trivoli; granddaughter, Amanda Ballard of Canton; grandson, Timothy Ballard of Germantown Hills; great grandsons, Izaak Campbell of Canton and Ben Ballard of Germantown Hills; sister, Vera Wilson Sharp of Moulton; and brothers, Neal (Kathleen) Darnell of Decatur, AL and Bailey (Shirley) Darnell of Hannibal, MO.
Annie was a member of Church of Christ Northwest in Peoria and enjoyed volunteering with the American Red Cross. She was a supporter and fundraiser for Schults-Lewis Child & Family Services and assisted New Antioch Church of Christ in Hillsboro, AL, with the Alabama Disaster Relief, after the tornado of 2011.
She was a beauty operator, for over thirty-five years in Peoria and was the best cook in the county.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Clary Funeral Home, 3004 West Lake Avenue, in Peoria.
