Richard Floria

Richard G. “Dick” Floria, 91, of Peoria, passed away at 7:10 a.m. on Tuesday, August 27, 2013, at Rosewood Care Center in Peoria.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 31, 2013, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Peoria, with Pastor William Dohle officiating. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday at church, prior to services. Interment will be at Lutheran Cemetery in Peoria.
Dick was born in Quincy on September 2, 1921, the son of Arthur and Margaret (Rust) Floria. They preceded him in death. He married Kathleen Schmidgall on June 20, 1948 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Peoria. She survives.
He is also survived by his daughters, Sally (Gerry) Bloom and Molly (Mark) Guy, all of Peoria; grandchildren, Michelle (Matthew) Maple, Jeff (Melissa) Bloom, Melissa (Jon) Gramlich, Amy (Jim) Ulrich and Ashley Guy; and great grandchildren, Luke, Jack, Kate, Khloe, Ella, Keeton, Alice, Gus, Louie and three more in 2014.
Dick worked in inventory control for Caterpillar for nineteen years, retiring in 1982. He was formerly employed with International Harvester, for thirteen years.
He loved his church, serving on the church council and Men in Mission.
Dick also loved serving his county and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during World War II, the National Guard and the U.S. Army, during the Korean Conflict. During his years in the military, he earned the rank of First Lieutenant, The Bronze Star and the Army Commendation Medal.
He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family.
Memorial contributions may be made in Dick’s memory to St. Paul Lutheran Church.
Dick’s family would like to thank the staff at Rosewood Care Center in Peoria for their care and compassion.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Clary Funeral Home, 3004 West Lake Avenue, in Peoria.
